Art Stage Singapore: 2014

Abbey McCulloch

15 - 19 Jan 2014

Abbey McCulloch is showing at Art Stage Singapore 2014, on at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore from 15 to 19 January.

McCulloch’s evocative works explore notions of identity and femininity, teasing out what it means to be female in contemporary society. Technology and social media have generated a growing concern with the image we project. McCulloch considers the negotiation women embark on in deciding what and how much of themselves they wish to reveal or conceal. Her lush works are simultaneously engaging yet unsettling, assertive yet restrained.

Abbey McCulloch has been named as one of Australia’s ’50 Most Collectable Artists’ three times by Art Collector magazine. In 2013 she was a finalist in the Archibald Prize for the third time, for her portrait of Naomi Watts. McCulloch holds a Masters in Fine Art from Queensland College of Art.
