Chris Bond: BalletLab McMahon Art Award



Chris Bond is a finalist in the inaugural invitation only BalletLab McMahon Contemporary Art Award. Chris was one of five shortlisted artists chosen by a panel including Patrice Sharkey, Director, Westspace; Serena Bentley, Assistant Curator, ACMI; Hannah Mathews, Curator, MUMA; curator Michael Brennan; Dr Marcus McMahon and Balletlab’s Artistic Director Phillip Adams. Judge, Max Delany, Director of ACCA will announce the winner in July

Established in 2016 and generously supported by philanthropist Dr Marcus McMahon,the BalletLab McMahon Contemporary Art Award is awarded to a contemporary artist who demonstrates a commitment to brave, innovative and transitional practice that contests the boundaries of contemporary art in new and impactful ways. The winning artist is offered an opportunity to progress their practice through the creation of a new work inspired by and exhibited at the Balfletlab’s new home, South Melbourne’s historic Temperance Hall
