Tarnanthi Festival, Adelaide

Yhonnie Scarce

8 Oct 2015 - 17 Jan 2016

Yhonnie Scarce is showing in the Tarnanthi Festival of Contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art, opening at the Art Gallery of South Australia on 8 October.

Scarce has been commissioned to create a monumental installation in the AGSA’s foyer, comprised of more then 2000 hand blown glass yams rising into the shape of a vast bomb cloud, inspired by the atomic bombs tested in South Australia between 1953 and 1963 which turned the desert sands to glass.

Vincent Namatjira will also exhibit in Tarnanthi, creating a series of paintings that reflect on his heritage and pay tribute to his great grandfather Albert Namatjira.
