Valerie Sparks is the winner of the prestigious William and Winfred Bowness Photography Prize 2016. This non-acqusitive $25,000 prize is an initiative of the Monash Gallery of Art Foundation. This is the second year in a row Valerie has exhibited in photography prize. Last year Valerie’s work was awarded Highly Commended by a panel including Bill Henson.
The works of all finalists will be on show at Monash Gallery of Art from 1 September – 16 October 2016. Sparks’ winning work, Prospero’s Island North East, is also currently showing in Tempest at the Tasmanian Art Gallery and Museum, Hobart.
