Megan Cope Wins Western Australia Indigenous Art Awards

  Congratulations to Megan Cope who was announced as winner of the $50,000 Western Australian Indigenous Art Awards at the Art Gallery of WA for her video work The Blaktism. Judges Amy Barrett-Lennard, Director of PICA; Clotilde Bullen, former Curator of Indigenous Art, AGWA; and Kimberly Moulton, Melbourne Museum selected Megan's work for  this prestigious award. The Blaktism draws on Megan's experiences of applying for a Certificate of Aboriginality to prove her Indigenous identity and explores notions of power and identity. Megan's video work and the other finalists - including This is No Fantasy's Vincent Namatjira - can be seen at the Art Gallery of Western Australia until 12 October 2015.
