Michael Cook’s Through My Eyes

Michael Cook's solo exhibition, Through My Eyes, opens this week at the La Trobe University Visual Arts Centre (VAC) Gallery.

This exhibition is a photographic project which portrays every Australian Prime Minister, from Edmund Barton through to Julia Gillard, through an Indigenous gaze. Combining official government portraits with those of Indigenous men and women the project asks the viewer to reconsider their view of history from an Indigenous perspective.

This series of photos was acquired for the La Trobe University Art Collection in 2011 and this exhibition is the first time that they have been shown in Victoria.

Exhibition dates: 24 October - 2 December 2012
Venue: La Trobe University VAC Gallery, Bendigo, Victoria
