ART STAGE SINGAPORE 2013

24 - 27 Jan 2013

At Art Stage Singapore Kate Tucker will create a kaleidoscopic site-specific installation that combines paintings, works on paper and ceramic sculptures. The installation will set up a series of encounters between the objects, individuals and the space, engendering a sense of immersion and wonder that is central to Tucker’s practice.

Kate Tucker’s artworks are arresting and hypnotic. Her images endlessly shift as structured shapes collide with organic lines and brilliant hues collapse into deep, sombre colours. In her work Tucker sifts through and processes the visual stimuli that surround her, re-contextualising and transforming these source influences. Tucker’s works are like diagrams illustrating how she negotiates inherent tensions and fluctuations; between freedom and discipline, stillness and motion, order and chaos. She revels in the clashes and contradictions that occur at their intersection.
