Haji Oh has been selected for Artspace Sydney’s 2026–28 Studio Program, joining the first cohort of artists undertaking the organisation’s newly expanded two-year residency model. One of Australia’s leading residency initiatives, the Artspace Studio Program provides artists with dedicated studio space, curatorial support and opportunities for sustained artistic development and exchange.

Artspace welcomes Remy Faint, Rindon Johnson, Adriana Māhanga-Lear and Haji Oh as the newest artists joining the Artspace Studio Program.

The Studio Program continues to offer artists the space to research and produce new works without constraint in an open and critically-engaged environment. Selected through a national open call, these artists form the first cohort within Artspace’s renewed two-year, rent-free residency model, marking a major new chapter in the organisation’s long-standing commitment to supporting artists with time, space and institutional support at pivotal moments in their practice.
Working across sculpture, installation, painting, video, performance and expanded interdisciplinary practice, the new cohort reflects the breadth and complexity of contemporary artistic practice today.
They join an intergenerational community of artists developing ambitious new work at Artspace, including current residents Maissa Alameddine, EO Gill, Joan Ross and Shevaun Wright, with Paula do Prado remaining in the Program to deliver the 2026 Art Gallery of New South Wales and Artspace annual co-commission as part of the Contemporary Projects series.

Artspace’s Executive Director Victor Wang said:

At a time when space itself is becoming harder to hold onto, Artspace remains committed to providing something increasingly rare: room to risk, experiment and imagine otherwise.’
The selection panel included all seven members of the Artspace team; Executive Director Victor Wang; artist board members Daniel Boyd, Ramesh Mario Nithiyendran and Julie Rrap; and board member Zoe Paulsen, together with assessments from Lisa Catt (Curator, International Contemporary Art, Art Gallery of NSW), Rhana Devenport (curator, writer and former museum director) and former board member, Amanda Love.
