Owen Leong

17 Sep - 11 Oct 2014

Owen Leong’s new solo exhibition Bloodmilk explores systems of power, the transmission of culture and the body as a physical site of exchange. In a series of self portraits, the artist uses his body as a vehicle to describe fictional selves, shifting from darkness to light and the unsettling to the seductive. Leong uses these self portraits to critically explore his body, identity, materials and symbols related to his Chinese cultural heritage. Leong has recently been announced as a finalist for the 2014 Signature Art Prize and will be showing in a group show at Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre later this year.
