Kevin Chin’s twentieth solo exhibition, From the Ruins, brings together new paintings created during a recent studio residency in Spain and extended research in Italy. Across these works, Chin reflects on how histories – personal, architectural, and cultural – are continually dismantled and rebuilt.

The series extends his practice into European references, where ancient ruins meet contemporary structures and futuristic fragments. Desert landscapes, Italian light, and remnants of Rome merge with imagery sourced globally, echoing the way distant events and places shape our present realities. In these shifting compositions, distinctions between earth and sky, past and future, collapse and repair, become increasingly elusive.
