Lunch with the Birds was performed on St. Kilda Beach on a quiet wintry day where the birds and I could commune. I was exploring a play on flight, ascension and the nature of the scavenging sea gulls. If I presented whole food as distinct from chips and pies, would they eat? This must have been influenced by Hitchcock’s Birds however seagulls, although brave are not that aggressive. This meditation is a metaphysical meeting. The series was exhibited at Art Projects, directed by John Nixon in 1980. T Lunch with the Birds was exhibited at Hiede Museum of Modern Art in Juliana Engberg`s, The Beach, in 1994.
