Séance presents a dialogue between different artistic practices that engage with invisibility, elevation, and the body’s withdrawal. Through this conversation, it explores the unseen as a generative presence — an unstable site where memory, spirit, and image intersect.
The exhibition concept is inspired by early photographic experiments that sought to capture what exists beyond the limits of perception. Drawing on the history of séance photography and Georges Méliès’ pioneering cinematic illusions — such as The Vanishing Lady (1896) and The Man with the Rubber Head (1901) — the exhibition brings together works that use tricks, manipulations, and strategies of staging to suggest the presence of what cannot be seen.
