Yhonnie Scarce is showing in the Tarnanthi Festival of Contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art, opening at the Art Gallery of South Australia on 8 October.
Scarce has been commissioned to create a monumental installation in the AGSA’s foyer, comprised of more than 2000 hand blown glass yams rising into the shape of a vast bomb cloud, inspired by the atomic bombs tested in South Australia between 1953 and 1963 which turned the desert sands to glass.
