Haji Oh has been shortlisted by Creative Australia for the Asia Pacific Art Award - Innovation category
Awarded to an Australian artist, group, collective or arts organisation to recognise a unique method of practice, engagement, and/or process to build creative links in Asia or the Pacific.
Haji Oh's multidisciplinary practice is largely textile-based & employs traditional techniques —weaving, dyeing, tying and stitching—from Korea, Japan, Guatemala and Indonesia.
Oh’s reframing of these traditional materials and study of the unique cultural methods behind their creation imbues her own artworks with a powerful sense of identity, place and memory that is further enhanced by their presentation in ambitious, evocative installations that incorporate photography, text and audio.
Congratulations + Good Luck Haji!
