2015 Portia Geach Memorial Award

We are very proud to announce Natasha Bieniek is the winner of the $30,000 Portia Geach Memorial Award for her painting 'Sahara'. Celebrating its 50th year, the Portia Geach Award is Australia´s most prestigious art prize for portraiture by female artists.

This exciting win comes hot on the heels of Bieniek recently winning the Wynne Prize at the Art Gallery of New South Wales. It also follows closely on Bieniek's successful solo exhibition with the gallery at last week's Sydney Contemporary.

Bieniek’s winning painting and the work of the other finalists in the Portia Geach Memorial Award, including Abbey McCulloch can be seen at the S. H. Ervin Gallery until 25th October.  The Wynne Prize exhibition continues at the Art Gallery of New South Wales until 27 September.
