Congratulations to Victoria Reichelt, whose work Last Days, 2010 has been acquired by the Gold Coast City Gallery Collection at the 2010 Duke Prize.
Geoffrey Cassidy, Artbank Director, had this to say about Victoria's entry:
“Victoria Reichelt’s stacks of books are more than they seem. In precarious piles with doomsday titles, they foretell their own obsolescence. The painting delights with its technical ability while
impressing with its conceptual strength and its humour”
Victoria's work has been acquired along side entries by Dane Lovett, Nerissa Lea and Waratah Leahy. The 2010 Stan and Maureen Duke Prize was won by Joe Furlonger.
The Duke Prize exhibition can be viewed until the 6 February 2011, at the Gold Coast City Art Gallery, 135 Bundall Road, Surfers Paradise.
